The Doe Fund is a leading New York City non-profit organization that operates the enormously visible Ready, Willing & Able program, whose participants clean over 170 miles of streets and sidewalk every day. With a $50 million budget, 400+ staff members and 46,000 individual donors, The Doe Fund is nationally acclaimed as a work-based model for solving homelessness and criminal recidivism. We empower people to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency, substance abuse, and incarceration through innovative work and housing programs.

We are seeking a Full Time Residence Manager for The Doe Fund’s newest permanent supportive housing program for homeless men and women living with HIV/AIDS. The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents’ independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. Seventy-four units will be allocated for residents referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) and forty-nine apartments will be for families referred by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).

The Residence Manager is responsible for the supervision of the residents and the overall operation of the facility during designated shifts. S/he will work collaboratively with the Clinical team and the Program Director to ensure that resident needs are being met as well as safety of the facility. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills along with an understanding of working with the HIV/AIDS population.

The shifts that we are looking to cover are: Monday – Friday 4:00pm to 12:00am OR 12:00am to 8:00am.

Responsibilities:

• Function as a liaison between the residents and the staff
• Collaborate with the security staff during his/her tour of duty to ensure safety and wellbeing of the residents
• Perform hourly patrols through the facility
• Manage any challenging situations and/or crises that may occur at the facility
• Responsible for handling any incidents that may occur at the facility and completing an Incident Report form, as needed
• Communicate noteworthy events to the Program Director and the Clinical team as well as document them in the appropriate log book
• Attend all mandatory staff meetings
• Ensure all aspects of Fire Alarm System (FAS) are working properly and are up to code with FDNY
• Visually inspect and document all components of the FAS
• Conduct and document quarterly fire drills

• High School diploma or GED required, some college preferred
• Fire Safety certification is preferred (F-02 or F-80)
• At least two years of experience working in a social service, residential setting
• Ideal candidate must have working knowledge of HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, mental illness and homelessness
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Computer skills – internet and Microsoft Office

Salary commensurate with experience.
